hear me out: omegaverse board game
OP
alphas betas and omegas get slightly different stats and class effects that make them play in distinct ways
dice are involved because of course they are
if an alpha lands within one square of an omega, it can roll for a chance of moving to that square
if an omega lands within one square of an alpha, it can roll for a chance to lure the alpha to that square
an alpha and omega within one square of each other can, instead of getting into mating mechanics, switch places without using up a turn (like castling in chess) but to do this, one must propose it and the other must agree: if the other doesn't agree, they're free to use their turn as they please while the proposer's turn is forfeit (prisoner's dilemma)
given my main experiences with board games are monopoly and candyland i'm a little confused but into it
i'm the opposite, i only know those in passing, how do they usually do things?
uhhh monopoly is just like, the spaces are all on a looping circle/rectangle. you roll 2d6 and you move forward however many spaces the dice says. certain spaces have you draw a card or go to "jail" (where you lose a certain number of turns i dont remember), or are property spaces.
if you pass the starting space ("go") you get $200 fake money. you can spend fake money on buying property spaces, or paying people if you land on their property space.
the goal is either Own All The Property or bankrupt everyone else. or just when everyone is sick of playing, whoever has the most property wins.
i think it was originally a critique of capitalism but when it got bought by hasbro it ended up being played straight
thank you, i understand monopoly 100% better just from reading this than all the explanations i've ever gotten, and i think it's really similar to what i was envisioning for the omegaverse game! different spaces that do things, cards/events being drawn, rewards for objective completion...
oooh :o (that makes me happy that i helped you too :D)
you totally did! :D
and i havent played candyland since i was a little kid so i dont remember the rules for that
(i just thought it would be funny to say)
so Alphas can roll to see if they can creep up on an omega. Alphas and Omegas can also switch locations within one square. Would Omegas have the ability to roll to make an alpha come closer to their square?
huh, presumably squares have actions you can do on them? kind of reminds me of magical board game tropes and sissy trainer (https://sissydreams.itch.io/sissy-trainer)
yes and yes, plus actions that involve all players regardless of what space who's on
that looks really interesting and i can definitely see the similarities, though this would be purely confined to the gameboard (but there's nothing stopping anyone from trying to inject some irl elements into it)
Makes sense!
i think the ideal would be a game you can play through a virtual gameboard too (aka online), but physical is how i'm currently defaulting in the imagination process
OP i love this so much pls keep going
thank u shrek i will
Can betas just be immune to AO bs during the game?
yes but it comes with lower/more balanced stats
