The Bobo Feature Releases Thread

Rather than continuing to manually update our "new stuff" display, I've hereby elected to make a valiant attempt at using an actual thread for it. This will not only make life easier for me, but also allow people to comment and ask questions on the updates themselves.

You'll still see the latest update in the same place with the same format. I've considered porting the old updates to this thread, but decided it's not worth the time. If you want a timeline of really old update, the logs page will always be there to serve us.

»I haven't actually implemented it
»I'm just starting with making the thread
»and seeing if i can actually get it done
»if not, this thread will live in infamy forever I guess

.....and we're back after our 15 minutes of downtime! Don't ask me what happened because I have no idea. Just know the solution was deleting node_modules and reinstalling from scratch, which is the webdev equivalent of "turning it off and on again".

This update is not really a feature update, but an announcement of sorts:

  • My personal situation (cn: sick pet) has unfortunately worsened, which knocked me out for a while. I will get back into things, but I'm doing so slowly and gently.
  • I'm planning to use this time to organize things so volunteers, especially tech ones, can take over tasks from me. We have a "tasks brain dump" meeting this Saturday. I plan to have it geared towards tech/features discussion, but anyone is invited to join (it's going to be in the Volunteers discord server).
  • On the same day Trump was banned from Twitter, we also had to ban our first user. I've published a postmortem explaining the timeline of events, the measures taken, and what can we learn (and build) from this. Feel free to comment on the thread itself if you have questions or observations, and I'm also always available via Discord or the feedback form for a private discussion.

The only tech update is that I removed our Christmas decorations and update our frontend queries library. If things are weird, let me know!
